Gordon & Rees Ranked Among the Top 40 Best Law Firms for Diverse Attorneys

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani ranked No. 36 on Law360's  "Diversity Snapshot " in 2021.

For the seventh year Law360 surveyed more than 250 U.S. firms about their diversity and inclusion efforts and shifted their evaluation from overall and minority representation within each firm.

Many firms worked to refresh or renew their commitment to long-standing diversity pledges in 2020 amidst a national conversation about racial injustice and accountability.  In light of this shift, Law360 revamped its Diversity Snapshot to include these efforts in this year's rankings.

Law360 shared this on their new method of measurement:

"Last year's Diversity Snapshot report scored firms based on their proportion of minority attorneys and proportion of minority equity partners, awarding points based on their rank in the two categories. This year's ranking goes beyond the data submitted in response to our latest survey, showing how firms' unique headcounts would have to break down by race and ethnicity to align with the potential marketplace of hires. It creates a pipeline score to account for how attorney diversity often shrinks at each successive level of the attorney hierarchy, despite the pool of available talent.  The pipeline score measures a given firm's percentage points above or below a set of benchmarks we created using data from the American Bar Association and firms' own headcounts."

A total of 266 firms were evaluated in this edition.

Diversity and inclusion remain top priorities at Gordon & Rees. The firm maintains both a Diversity Committee, a Women’s Initiative, and numerous affinity groups to support African Americans, LGBTQ+, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American. and South Asian law firm members, all of which are designed to provide significant opportunities for mentoring, marketing, networking, support and professional advancement.

In addition, the firm has also implemented its Leadership Equality and Diversity (“LEAD”) Program as part of its ongoing commitment to recruit, retain, and promote diverse attorneys to the highest positions of management, leadership and ownership at the firm. The firm’s strategy has produced strong results, particularly in firm leadership, where nearly half of Gordon & Rees’ offices are led by female and/or minority partners.  Further, Gordon & Rees has earned a 100% rating on the Corporate Equality Index for LGBTQ equality from 2016 to the present, is ranked No. 24 on the Women in Law Scorecard by the National Law Journal, and is among the top 25% of Am Law 100 firms on the American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard.
