Gordon & Rees Ranked Among the Top 25 Law Firms on The American Lawyer’s 2022 Diversity Scorecard

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani has been ranked No. 24 on The American Lawyer's 2022 Diversity Scorecard. The Diversity Scorecard measures minority representation in the country's largest law firms. Since 2005, the firm has climbed more than 145 spots on The American Lawyer’s Diversity Scorecard.

The American Lawyer revamped the Diversity Scorecard this year to emphasize diversity of all kinds across an organization’s entire complement of attorneys, with an emphasis on diversity in leadership positions. The substantive changes to this year's surveys included new indicators that highlight not just the pure numbers, but how firms are creating pathways for the long-term success of their diverse attorney talent.

“We believe that the new methodology used by The American Lawyer is more substantive in terms of measuring a firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts and, as a result, better reflects Gordon & Rees’ achievements in increasing representation throughout its ranks,”  shared Franz Hardy and Laura De Santos, co-chairs of the firm's National Diversity Committee.

The firm's commitment to a culture of inclusion began more than three decades ago with the establishment of its Diversity Committee to devise and implement policies to advance diversity and inclusion as an integral part of the firm's culture. Today, the Diversity Committee along with several affinity groups continue this mission throughout the firm as it grows across the country.  Gordon & Rees remains vigilant about diversity in hiring, mentoring, retaining, and promoting.

“We could not be more focused on achieving meaningful and tangible progress in terms of diversity and inclusion, both of which remain cornerstone priorities for Gordon & Rees,” said Firmwide Managing Partner, Dion N. Cominos. Cominos added, “We are very pleased with the firm’s continued upward ascension in the diversity rankings and look forward to continued success in this crucial area.”

In December 2020, Gordon & Rees announced the implementation of its Leadership Equality and Diversity (“LEAD”) Program as part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to recruit, retain, and promote female and diverse attorneys to the highest positions of management and ownership at the firm.

Key elements of the program include: focused and deliberate recruitment and hiring of female and diverse attorneys; the creation of one-on-one mentoring programs targeted specifically at assisting female and diverse attorneys to ensure their continued retention and advancement; developing business, marketing proposals and pitches that are materially inclusive of female and diverse attorneys; regularly reviewing the firm's leadership opportunities, key committee membership roles, and partner candidate pools; and emphasizing the successful advancement of the LEAD Program’s objectives as one of the criterion to be considered when determining year-end compensation.

This initiative was custom created and implemented to achieve Gordon & Rees’ core objectives in the areas of diversity and inclusion.
